About the Journal

A clean beauty review built on evidence — and lived experience.

Founded by a tester, not a marketer. Independent · Editorially funded by reader-supported affiliate links.

Pure Technical Beauty began the way most honest projects do — out of frustration. After years quietly testing clean skincare and hair care, our founder kept arriving at the same conclusion: the gap between what brands claim and what their formulas actually do is wider than most consumers realize. The "clean" label has become a marketing aesthetic. Our work is to look past it.

We approach every product the way a formulator would. That means reading the full INCI list, comparing concentrations against published research, and weighing ingredient choices against the realities of skin barrier health, scalp biology, and long-term use. Where the science is settled, we say so. Where it isn't, we say that too. The goal is never to chase trends — it is to give women a calmer, clearer way to decide what belongs in their routine.

Every product featured here has been used by someone on this team for a meaningful length of time. We do not publish recommendations for items we wouldn't personally repurchase, and we do not accept payment in exchange for opinion. When we earn a commission through an affiliate link, it funds the independent testing that keeps this publication honest — and that policy is spelled out in full on our Affiliate Disclosure.

"Every recommendation on this site reflects genuine research, ingredient analysis, and considered opinion — not sponsored content."
